Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The statistics of an item are improved by upgrading it, also referred to as "upping". Each upgrade increment provides an increase in the linearity of a given stat.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time in order to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the item's upgraded components. The cost of recycling an item increases with its rarity and level.
Upgrade components
A level upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the power of your weapons and armor. This can be done through many different methods that include using upgrade components and increasing an item's mark level or rarity. Many items can also be reforged to increase their value.
You can purchase upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available all over all over the world and are rewards for missions. They can also be made by players. The primary method to upgrade equipment is through the use of upgrade components which are items that can be slotted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots for upgrading and some require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components offer specific bonuses, while others offer a general bonus.
There are a variety of upgrade components available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gemstones and enchantments can be placed on any type of equipment, and offer less than upgrades that are specific to equipment. Glyphs are only available on gathering tools. They offer a variety of bonuses, from increasing the speed at which an item gathers to providing extra crafting material.
To upgrade an item, select it in your inventory and open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right-hand side of the screen. It will display the expected stats following the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show blocked if you don't have enough of or.
The upper-right side of the screen shows the amount of upgrade components required for a particular item. The price of an upgrade increases as the level and rarity of the item. However you can cut down on the cost by purchasing upgrades from a merchant or trading them with other players.
Most weapons can be upgraded using an upgrade to a prefix, such as an insignia or rune, and a lot of them are upgraded by a suffix upgrade. These upgrades add an adjective to the item's name for example "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor".
Glyphs
Glyphs are a way to convey information via visuals. They animate in order to draw the attention of the viewer and stimulate curiosity. The glyphs' animation mimics body language, which makes them more effective in communicating messages across language barriers. Glyphs also create a sense of familiarity in the brain, increasing retention of the message.

Each glyph increases a stat's value by a certain range. This is shown on the item when you open it in the Glyph Storage. This is the highest value that a glyph can improve a stat by but not the amount it will actually increase the stat by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the item you're in awe of it.
Most upgrade components inserted into items are not able to be repaired or replaced without removing the gear in question, except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If, however, you have an unusable rune or glyph that has not yet been added to your gear, you can move it to another piece of equipment by utilizing the upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.
You can remove the glyph using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item on which the glyph is placed will be destroyed, but the upgraded item can be salvaged with the glyph shards.
A glyph added to an item may cause it to become unstable, and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory when you take it down. You can also apply a glyph on your equipment to provide an additional benefit. Deferred Damage, for example can be used to store damage and be distributed slowly to the wearer rather than all at one time. This is helpful for players who are taking lots of damage from enemies however do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens permit players to change the affixes of their weapons and equipment and they can be obtained in a variety of ways such as in mistery boxes or as an uncommon drop from skulled creatures, or even from killing bosses. Each reroll token grants the player a new random affix that is usually superior to the original. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade weapon stats for more damage or bonuses.
Rerolled items don't appear on the menu for item upgrade s, but they can still be upgraded. These rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button, which changes the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be selected to recycle. Recycling an item adds a small amount of points to its level gauge. The amount is determined by the item's rarity and its own level, so higher-level items are more valuable to recycle than lower level ones.
Players can also make use of Reroll Tokens and Star Remnants to roll rerolling weapons to upgrade units. Rerolls will determine the % chance of a particular weapon trait. If it is higher, the weapon will be upgraded, and if it rolls lower, it remains unchanged. Weapons can be upgraded up to 3 times.
Rerolling is a great option to upgrade an item. However, players should be aware of the fact that the total ilvl is decreased by the number of rerolls it took to get it to the final ilvl. This effect is most noticeable on Rings and Diadems as they have no other options to increase the ilvl.
Players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It's better to allow people to pay for it using money or food items, which will allow players to make changes to their builds without having to spend excessive amounts of time. However the paid rerolls aren't something that the developers would like to implement at this point in the game's development. Instead, they're planning include an option to change the race in the near future.
Leveling
There are several ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount, which increases the upgrade value of any stat. The second is to boost the upgrade effect which increases the damage or heal of a particular stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. When this is done the new item will keep its iLevel however it will have the upgrade effects of the upgraded type of item.
It is important to remember that upgrades are random. In the majority of cases the chance of a better roll will result from glyphs, but there are also opportunities for more or unique rolls. The type of the item will determine the iLevel. If you upgrade a rare or unique item to a unique item type, it is likely to getting an additional level.
Upgrades to items can be costly, particularly when you're upgrading an item of gear from the normal to the legendary track. The cost of upgrading an item will be contingent on its base iLevel as well as the amount of upgrade levels. Some upgrade tracks also require crests in order to get to the next level.
If you're lucky your upgraded item will reach the highest level of its upgrade track and gain a bonus effect. This will give the item a significant upgrade value. The bonus effect can change with each upgrade level, though. Generally speaking, the upgrade effect is increased by a factor of +3.
The iLevel also changes depending on the item's upgrade path and base level. For instance an item that has been upgraded from a rare or exclusive item to an exceptional item is likely to get the Enhanced Defense of the new base item type.
